Backlist Spotlight
We’ve published a new edition of feminist classic The Wall by Marlen Haushofer. The book was first published in English in 1991. Variously interpreted as an ironic Robinson Crusoe story, a philosophical parable of human isolation and as dystopian fiction, The Wall is at once a simple survival story and a disturbing meditation on twentieth-century history.The Wall has also just been adapted into a film starring Martina Gedeck, receiving rave reviews at the BFI London Film Festival and across the US since its release on 3rd July. There have been showings at the ICA all week!

Rupert Darwall read economics and history at Cambridge, after which he worked at the Conservative Research Department, then in the City as an investment analyst and in corporate finance. He has written for leading publications in the UK and the US and for London-based think tanks.
